Double Yellow Lines in the Murrayfield/Roseburn Area

Monday, 11 August 2008

The Community Council had requested that double yellow lines be installed at the foot of Murrayfield Avenue at the junction with Corstorphine Rd, in the form of a 5 metre extension of the current restrictions on the west side at the Corstorphine Road junction.  A draft order has now been published, and this may be examined at the City Chambers from 8 August to 2 September between the hours of 0930 and 1530 (Mon-Fri).  Further progress will then depend on any objections made to the proposal.

Following this, the Professional Officer for the area is looking at the wider issue of double yellow lines in the Murrayfield area. He has observed that several junctions could benefit from the installation of double yellow lines to improve sightlines.  Listed below are the locations that he considers would benefit from this.
Russell Road – east side of carriageway, extending existing traffic restrictions at junction with Roseburn Terrace to the sorting office
Russell Gardens
north side of the carriageway, extension of existing traffic restrictions at the   junction of Roseburn Street
south side of the carriageway, reduce length of existing traffic restrictions at the junction of Roseburn Street
north side of the carriageway, new traffic restrictions to improve junction sightlines at industrial area
Abinger Gardens - south side of the carriageway, extension of existing traffic restrictions
Murrayfield Gardens - south side of the carriageway, to join existing traffic restrictions
Corstorphine Road, cnr Murrayfield Avenue - east side of carriageway, to join existing traffic restrictions
Murrayfield Road – junction of Ellersly Road and junction of Kingsburgh Road
