Traffic speed survey Roseburn to Western Corner

Thursday, 14 June 2012

Following issues of safety raised through the Community Council the following letter has been received from City of Edinburgh Council:

Dear Mr Ross
ROAD SAFETY – ROSEBURN TO WESTERN CORNER

Thank you for your email of 28 May 2012 regarding the speed of traffic on the A8 between Western Corner and Roseburn Terrace.

Councillor Edie contacted the Road Safety Team on your behalf to highlight your concerns about vehicle speeds on this section of road and it was agreed that an assessment for a vehicle activated speed sign (VASS) would be carried out at this location. We will be carrying out a speed and volume survey before the start of the school holidays and I will contact you again when the results of this assessment are available.

The budget for the erection of VASS has already been allocated for this financial year, therefore if the location meets the criteria for their erection they will be added to the list of sites for construction in 2013/14.

If you require any further information please contact Mr Iain Peat on 0131 469 3416 or on iain.peat@edinburgh.gov.uk.

Yours sincerely
