You say it’s easy to be green at Edinburgh’s four Community Recycling Centres

Recent research carried out into our Community Recycling Centres (CRCs) showed you think it’s easy to be green.  The researchers, who interviewed 900 visitors to Edinburgh’s four CRCs, found:

·       99% of visitors to CRCs said they are satisfied with the range of materials which can be recycled there

·       98% find the CRCs easy to get to

·       93% of people rated their understanding of what can and cannot be recycled as excellent or good

·       Sighthill is the least well known

·       of all the CRCs, and Seafield the best known

·       the “average” visitor to CRCs is a 49 year old male!

The main reasons given for visiting CRCs is for general recycling (45%) and home clear outs (43%), with the most common items deposited being cardboard and glass bottles.

There are four CRCs across the city:

  • Seafield CRC, Fillyside Road  EH7 6RD
  • Craigmillar CRC, Old Dalkeith Road  EH16 4TB
  • Braehead CRC, Craigs Road  EH12 0AA
  • Sighthill CRC, Bankhead Avenue  EH11 4EA

So, if you’ve not been before, why not start to visit your nearest CRC and recycle more?  There you can pick up a guide which gives the full range of items you can recycle.  Or for more information about recycling:

·       Pop in to your local Neighbourhood Office or library and pick up your copy of the guide to using your Community Recycling Centre
