Council in talks with insurers about flooding
Wednesday, 3 March 2010
The Community Council recently received this information from the City Council:
"We have been in contact with ABI (Scotland) [Association of British Insurers] to get their members views on the issue of residential flood insurance and received a largely positive response to our enquiry.
This positive response has caused us to re-think our strategy. Insurers, in general, would appear to be aware of flood risk issues, but this is based on their own knowledge and claims experience. The way forward is to ensure that insurers have all the relevant information and are also aware of the Council's procedures and monitoring, flood defences and flood response. We will continue our dialogue with the ABI in this respect."
If you are experiencing difficulty with insurance because of flood risk, please contact you local councillor.
